[if you would like to listen to my band]

A polaroid portrait of Ray Morris

Ray of Little Green Book

I have mentioned Little Green Book on this blog quite a bit,
and I’m going to mention them again. Little Green Book is
the combination of my little brothers insane musical talent
and my ability to ad lib. All the songs are recorded once
and done with it. Most [if not all] of the songs are made up
on the spot, the only exceptions are those which no-one
has ever heard.

If you click the top photograph you will get
directed to the new soundcloud account with
some of the songs on and if you click on the one
on the bottom you will be directed to the
myspace account.

When I move back home I will hopefully be able to get some
new stuff together if me and my little brother can find the
time and if I can find something worth singing about. I’ve kind
of lacking in the inspiration department recently.

There is also the chance of drums being added
to the band. But that’s another blog for another
day.

Our one and only gig to date.

[wood, graphite, paper, creativity]

Spare_Pencil_BrwnAlthough I have written what some would
say are a fair few blogs, the majority of what
I write [or in most cases, what I intend to
write] gets written down in my notepads.

I have different notepads for different things, I have
one for general thoughts and feelings that I have in
my day to day as well things that I would otherwise
forget, I have one that will one day become a travel
journal [if I could just start it off], I have one for
writing down ‘Little Green Book‘ lyrics in and I have
one  for writing down my photographic  and video
ideas down into.

The one thing that all these notepads have in
common with one another, is that I only ever
use pencil to jot down ideas. I’m not sure why,
I’ve just always preferred them.

As always I am really into researching things and thats
why at the moment I am reading a book on Greek and
Roman mythology. But if you wanted to research pencils,
here are some sites to look at :]

‘The History Of Pencils’

‘An Entry On Pencils On Wikipedia’

Just a small note, one should always use a HB
pencil for when they are drawing [which I can’t
do anyway] or jotting down their thoughts, it
feels nicer. Almost as nice as using a biro to write
on a banana skin. Go on, try it :]

Hi, I’m Rich
And I’ll be moving
Keep in touch

[sixteen things]

So I was tagged on WordPress by the Dude,
also on Facebook by my friend Ali, so it’s
best that I carry it on. So I’m going to
expand it and write twenty-five things
about myself. Now these things are
completely random [just so’s you know].

1] Sometimes, which can be alot of the time
my nose doesn’t seem to work, so I can’t smell
perfume, shampoo or gas [which is the most
worrying] and other times its fine.

2] I’ve been told that I’m a talented at
photography, but recently I have been
doubting this and I’m not sure how I’m going
to turn that around.

3] I have a need to see places I’ve never seen
before, even if it means making a three hour
trip, it’ll be worth it to see somewhere new.

4] I can’t sing, yet I do. All the time. I can’t
seem to help it. And if I’ve gotten bored of a
song or I think that it’s not that great, I’ll
make up my own lyrics. These are usually
about someone or something that I’m thinking
about.

5] I talk too much.

6] I’m allergic to peanuts, wasp stings and
prawns. Pretty much all the geeky things to
be allergic to.

7]
I seem to fall for people too easily  and then
when other people like me  I tend to ignore
them.

8] I’m not sure if my dad is actually alive or
not. We never speak and I don’t really speak
to his side of the family either or have a way
to contact them.

9] I never do crosswords in pen,  always in
pencil.

10] I used to be crazy but over it myself and
feel better for it.

11] I’m a pretty good cook [I have been told
this] andI actually enjoy doing it, but tend
to reserve it for special occasions.

12] I can write poems about pretty much
anything, but, if I look deeper into them
they’re usually about the same thing.

13] I’ve realised that I can be quite
secretive at times and  at others reveal
my soul to the world.

14] I really feel the need to improve my
vocabulary and be able to form sentences
that make em feel stupid.

15] My mum is one of the coolest mums
ever and this has also been said by others.

16] Me and my best friend Tommi have
been friend for about eleven or twelve
years and I know I can tell him anything.

17] My dreams are getting really abstract
recently. Last nights one involved the
following:

My Friends,
Random People,
A Riot,
Swanscombe,
A Pub,
A Piano,
Getting Drunk,
Time Travel,
Kung Fu,
Closed Down Pubs,
Me Getting Shot,
Government Agents,
Ghosts,
& Two snakes [and one was robotic]

18] I snore, loudly. So yeah, sorry
about that.

19] I’m a hopeless romantic, with the
emphasis on the hopeless part.

20] I’m an excellent boyfriend [I
have references].

21]
I used to take driving lessons until a
wasp hit my windscreen and I slammed
on the acceleration and went into traffic
and over a round-a-bout.

22]
I am shit scared of wasps and bees and
I don’t see myself growing out it.

23] My hair is probably twice as big as it
looks but because I am lazy I don’t comb
it.

24] My phone is permanently on silent and
because of this I don’t actually what my
ringtone sounds like.

25] I am ‘aww’ apparently, although no-one
has been able to convince me of this.

And,

26] I still eat eat yogurt with chopsticks.

And there you go, 25 things you may or
may not have not known about me. I’m not
going to tag anybody [mainly because I’m
not sure how].

Anyways, brand new blog tomorrow.

[time for the quarterly update]

Here we go, below is a list of things that I
will [emphasis on the will], achieve by
the 31st March 2009, this is much like a
new years resolution, but, transformed
into a set of goals and placed in a much
shorter timeline.

The reason for this and probably the reason
behind most new years resolutions failing is
that a year is too much time and between
the first and last day of the year things will
happen.

And that promise you made to yourself
will fall into the deep dark part of your
brain only to be remembered when
December rolls around and someone asks
what your resolution was.

Shorten the time, up the deadline. Make
December, March. You become more dedicated
and there’s less chance of it all going to hell.

The List:

1] To have achieved at least one photographic
exhibition, as one person or in a group.

2] Write and then start recording on a short
film.

3] To have read at least 5 novels.

4] To have completed at least two of my
photographic projects.

5] Copy all outstanding photographic ideas
into the project book.

6] Write down all the lyrics and chords for
[Little Green Book] all in one notepad.

7] To see at least one more foreign country
that I have not seen before.

And there we are. My list of goals. I have every
intention of completing every one of these goals.
And seeming that each one of these goals is an ‘at
least’ I also intend of taking each one further.

On anther note, my absence from my blog, hasn’t been
my absent mind wishing for far away lands, but for the
sheer fact that to blog, I need a trigger, a feeling if you
like and I just haven’t had one recently but the I started
thinking about this years [well, three months] list and
boom there we go.

If anyone wants to help with these goals feel free,
but realise that I can be arse when I have a particular
vision in my head. As bad as that [rather long]
sentence sounded, it’s also the truth.

[don’t trust a guy who wears trainers bigger than size 10]

So the gig was on Sunday and
although I was nervous that
completely went away. Really.

After work Andrew dropped me home
[thanks mate] and as I got in I realised
my lil bro wasn’t indoors but has left
behind the jeans he had bought for me.
[they cost all of £3, but there not that
bad, lol].

I also saw the setlist that my lil bro
had been working on, I say set list.
It was more a list of songs that we
should have done [in no particular
order]. He then came home and we
left to get on the train.

And because I didn’t actually know
the words to half my own songs I
spent the train ride writing down
the words.

We met up with Andrew outside Maze
Hill Station and made our way to the
pub. When we got to the Vanburgh
[pub in Greenwich] there was a guy sound
checking and he was actually all right.

The night turned out to be [as described
by the promoter] a paid rehearsal, but
hey, I got a fun time, a jokes gig and
a bit of money. Hopefully the seven
people who were there enjoyed it.

[photos will be on this blog before
and i would like to say thank you
to Andrew for the photography]

[oh and by the way, I wear size
twelves]
[lol]
