It is actually kind of a big deal, to me that is. The story is that from 2008 to
2010 [thereabouts] I always carried a small pocket notepad around with me
to write down any poems, thoughts, etc that would pop into my head that
I wouldn’t want to forget. I had fill about one and three quarter notepads
when I just stopped and I can’t really remember why to be honest.
When I moved back home I shoved all my notepads, loose pieces of paper
and so on into a messenger bag that I wasn’t using any more. I, at the very
least, am able to explain why I wasn’t using the bag any more, the basic
reason behind that was because I had used it nearly everyday for three
years and it was falling apart, but I couldn’t bear to throw it away so I
found a better use for it. You should always have a bag to put all those
loose pieces of paper. But I digress.
As I looked through my old notepads it occured that all those thoguht would have been lost had I not jotted them down first. I was still writing things down but on scrap pieces of paper that usually got lost. So I popped down to Paperchase and bought a notepad. I intend to fill this one up with random musings and what not and I might end up scanning some of the pages.
In other news today I am cutting my hair, which might not sound like much but I’ve been letting it grom for over two years now. But it’s time to let it go. Below have a look at what my hair looks like at the moment
[it’s an old Facebook profile pic and ok, my hair is mostly covered by the
hat, but I’m sure I look good in the hat]
I think I do this every other year, sort of an apprehensive resolution to sort my life out as it were. I don’t think my life is too bad to be honest but there are always areas where one can improve. I think for me, I lack concentration at times and I am unable to focus on one task for too long but that can lead to a bad habit that will last a lifetime, so it’s back to writing, but to concentrating and back to blogging as you may see here.
So hopefully this will last and also don’t forget to check out my photography based blog which I am about to write an update for. You can reach it by clicking the images that I have posted below. And on that blog you will find clear ways to get a hold of me and also on following me on Twitter should you wish too, see you later.

Today I’m babysitting my five year
old niece and she told me that I
should get a girlfriend by the end of
the day. And then she started giving
me chat up lines.
And I apparently also have the hair of a girl.
But babysitting tonight has been fun.
Well it seems that the end for Bangor [in terms of
me being here] are looming ever closer. In just
over a week I’ll be leaving Bangor. Of course I’ll
return but it won’t be the same as I won’t be living
At the moment as I sit in my room that is looking a little
more bare than it did last week. And it makes me think
of Scrubs for some strange reason. In particular the last
episode of Season 8 when JD leaves Sacred Heart. And how
he was goping for the massive goodbye. Which as we know
in life, doesn’t happen.
So, I pack my things, the majority of my things
anyways. I didn’t pack my cameras away as I have a
feeling that I may need to use any of them at any
given time. Yes, I am that geeky. For further
evidence of this look below.
I know, awesome right?
I don’t have much else to write except that my jaw hurts
if I open it too wide which makes yawning and eating
quite painfull but at least my feet have healed and I’m
able to walk around without feeling epic pain 🙂
Also, not having a job is really fucking boring.

Today I had a walk into town and found that I had found myself
outside of the main window for the Marks & Spencer store in
Bangor and as I looked at the photos they had on the exterior of
the shop for there food and to be honest none of it looked appetising.
And that got me to thinking. My attitude to food has changed quite a bit.
I used to knowingly gorge on food, just because I could. But because if
the rules that I’m now living by [which were mentioned in a previous
post] I’m eating better and always eating crappy fast food.
And also it has got me cooking more, which is fun. Below I have included
two pictures. The top one is of the Marks & Spencer window and the other
is the meal I cooked for my friend Vicki and I. Yesterday was an epic day.
Cooked for a friend, had a massive walk, played some frisbee and some
basketball and worked and one of the best jobs I have ever had. ilovelife.

Not sure where I found this or exactly how long it’s been saved on my computer.
But seeing it reminds me of home.
The fact that besides Bangor at the moment home is Kent and by weak extension London and that this drawing is obviously not of London makes the fact it reminds me quite strange. But there you go.
Hope you’re all good.

Seren is the student newspaper for Bangor University
and there is a part of called ‘Creative Corner’ where
you are able to submit photographs, writing etc for
Well I submitted a poem and two photographs and
they both got included which was pretty awesome.
What was great about it was that I finally did something
with my poems [due the encouragement of
yourownpersonalmonster, possibly one of the longest
standing readers of this blog] and I knocked it
off my to-do list. Which as it transpired it was never
on the list to begin with.
I have received compliments about the photos
and the poems which is always nice. I have
included it in this post as a PDF file so you can
just download it. If you go to Page 20 you will see
a photograph of some bikes in black and white
[that’s mine] and on Page 21 I have the poem[s]
as well as a photograph I took in a bookstore
I was thinking of submitting again. We’ll see what
they think of these and whether they feel they are
Hope you enjoy 🙂

About two or three months ago whilst perusing the
overlooked boxes of the local charity I came across
a great little camera. A Polaroid Supercolour 635.
Basically a polaroid camera that takes the standard
600 film. Just in case you were unaware I had broken
my other Polaroid camera. [we dont talk about it]
So obviously I bought it. For about £3. Love it.
But I had to wait till I visited home earlier this
month because I hadn’t packed the film with me
and it is increasingly hard to get these days. So
whilst I was back I put some into my bag [to be
honest I should blog on my time back, oh well].
So, I had ten photographs left. I had the first one taken
whilst Andrew and I were in the Storm FM studio.
The second I took on Bangor Pier. And the third….
When you only have ten photos left in a camera
and with no idea where your next lot is coming
from or indeed if that next lot will ever come
about. You make sure the photos are worthwhile.
[fun with polaroids of people who are amazing]
[you’re so cool I’d waste a polaroid on you]
[you’re so cool, I’d actually waste a polaroid just have you in it]

So having recently looked back on the haikus and
poems on this blog with Jeni I noticed something
quite worrying. It had been a while since I had
posted any sort of poetry up and in that also realised
that it had been just as long since I had written a poem.
The problem is inspiration and not knowing what to write
about. I had actually forgotten this worrying thought when
this morning [whilst too tired to get out of bed] I updated
my status on Facebook. Just saying ‘tired’ and this led to
my flatmate commenting, and in the end resulted in me
I’m kinda happy about that.
In case you can’t read it, as it seems to have become bad quality
I’ll rewrite them.
I have a finite amount of days upon this mortal ride,
And it seems that sleep runs like a thief through my tired mind.
Stealing not gold nor items of much worth,
But only the time I have on this Earth.
But surely in sleep we discover our dreams,
Where mortal reality is ripped at the seams.
It is this that gives us our hopes and desires,
Till the day we march on to our own funeral pyres.
But with hopes and desires already considered,
There possibility having faded and withered.
Means that sleeps, the art of subtle realisation,
becomes nothing more that a practice in self deprecation.
I guess that poetic Richard is back.

This song is amazing, whether electric or acoustic.
Hope you enjoy. Oh and look back, I seem to be
churning out blog posts recently so there may be
some that you have missed.

I have many realisations most days of the week, some are
quite benign and pointless [like for instance how vagina is
a strange word to say] and some with some more use, for
example, the life that is currently in my possession needs
to epic. This needs to be one of the best lives on record and
be so amazing that it appears on record. I know this sound
quite big headed, but like I’ve said before, these are my
thoughts and this is my blog and I will write whatever
happens when the two meet.
I see people everyday that have wasted the time that they have, or have
had, with sudden realisations that time is indeed running short. I don’t
know what it is but it actually saddens me that I may actually join these
vast ranks of people with lives of little experience. And the ways that I
can notice this, is by listening to the things that they have done in their
lives that they are most proud of. They never seem to have gone very
far for any lengthy period of time or explored in any way. And as some
of you may know…
This will never be me.
So over the next few weeks I am going to compose a list. Things to
do before I die. A bucket list if you will. I haven’t yet decided as to
whether this list will be composed of fifty items, one hundred or
even one hundred and fifty items. All I know is that it will be one
of the things in my life that I actually complete. Instead of leaving
half done like many, many things that I have started during my time
It also annoys me that I have all these things that I note
down ‘to-do’ but I never get around too, wasting time on
Facebook and such websites or doing literally nothing,
if I could change one thing about me it would be my lazy
nature. Oh and possibly to have a bit more of neck.
The progress of the ‘Things To Do Before I Die’ list will be charted
on another blog which I will create especially for the task of keeping
people abreast of the progress I am making [should they actually
care at all], I haven’t actually made the blog yet, as even I don’t
know the full details of the list. But when I have made it I will but
the link on here for all to see. There will be some ridiculous ones
on there and some quite mundane ones, but hey I’m gonna do
what I want. Because I feel like it.

These were made by my old flatmate Kate, the three chicks have been
made up to look like other people in the house [namely Rick Graham,
Alex Feery and myself].
I am on the left with a beard playing piano. Rick is in the centre with emo hair and
a Guinness under his wing and on the far right we have Alex. And although you
can’t see it he has got flesh tunnels taped on under his ears.
Found this photo recently and it made me giggle. So it’s on the blog.
I may start doing my posts like this just so’s I get into the habit of writing on here.
